الرَّحْمَٰنِ르r라흐마니 بِسْمِ비스밀
- 太字 = 単語の強勢がある音節。少し強く。
- 上線 = 長母音（マッド）。2拍ほど伸ばす。朗誦でいちばん大切な長さ。
- 小さい字 = アラビア語に母音がない所。子音だけを短く。
- 小さなラテン文字 = 韓国語にない音。次の音節に付く。f 上の歯で下唇に触れる · θ/ð 舌先を歯の間に · r 舌先を震わせる（ㄹ だけなら l）。
発音表記の見方

- 太く大きい字(ˈ) = 強く、少し長く。単語でいちばん強い音節。
- 薄い字 = 弱く・短く(あいまい母音)。全部の音節を同じ強さで読まないこと。
- 小さい 으・트・스 = ほとんど発音しない。英語にない母音なので、子音だけで止める。
- 単語全体が薄い(the・of・and・to…) = 文の中では弱く速く。名詞・動詞など内容語を強く。
- 小さい f v θ ð r = 韓国語にない音。f 上の歯を下唇に当てる、v 同じ形で声を出す、θ・ð 舌先を歯の間に、r 舌を丸めてどこにも触れない。

この章について
メッカ期に啓示されたスーラに分類され、覆いかぶさる夜、輝きわたる昼、そして男と女を創られた方にかけた誓いで始まり、人間の努力はさまざまであると宣言します。続いて二つの道が並べて示されます。施しをし、神を畏れ、最善の報いを真実と認める者は、安楽へと容易に導かれます。一方、物惜しみをし、自分は満ち足りていると考え、その報いを否定する者は、困難へと容易に導かれ、転落するとき、その富は何の助けにもなりません。スーラは、導きは神に属し、来世もこの最初の生も神に属すると述べ、燃えさかる火について警告します。そこで焼かれるのは、否定して背を向けた最も惨めな者だけです。最も神を畏れる者はそこから遠ざけられます。それは自らを清めるために財を施す者であり、恩に報いるためではなく、ただ至高なる主の御顔を求めてそうする者です。そして彼は満ち足りることになるでしょう。

名前の由来 第1節冒頭の誓いにある「夜」(al-Layl)にちなんで名付けられています。

By the night when it covers,

and the day when it appears in brightness,

3
and [by] Him who created the male and the female!

4
Indeed your efforts are diverse.

5
As for the one who gives and is mindful of God,
-
6
and affirms the best [reward],
-
7
We will ease him toward ease.
-
8
But as for the one who is stingy and considers himself self-sufficient,
-
9
and denies the best [reward],
-
10
We will ease him toward hardship.
-
11
And his wealth will not avail him when he falls.
-
12
Indeed upon Us is [the giving of] guidance.
-
13
And indeed to Us belong the Hereafter and the first [life].
-
14
So I have warned you of a Fire that blazes,
-
15
none will burn in it except the most wretched,
-
16
who denied and turned away.
-
17
But the most God-fearing will be kept away from it —
-
18
he who gives his wealth to purify himself,
-
19
not for anyone's favour to be repaid to him,
-
20
but only seeking the Face of his Lord, the Most High.

21
And he will surely be well pleased.
